BRANDING

SAYLOR MAE

Saylor Mae is a New Zealand based online baby store specialising in modern and sustainable products that are beautiful and functional for everyday use.

The client approached me to create a brand identity for them that would enable them to launch into the online space and into a few NZ boutique stores.

Collaboratively our vision for the identity was to create a fun and memorable brand with a retro yet modern undertone.

The vintage style font evokes a hand painted signage feel, with the modern balance being found in the sans serif ‘Little Trend Setters’ stamp element. The colours are more muted retro palette, which bring a strength and nostalgic feel to the overall look.

BARK & BEAR

Bark & Bear, a small creative studio with a vision to help small to medium businesses launch into the market space by providing a one-stop shop service specialising in brand identity/development, print collateral, photography and film.

A brand identity was needed that spoke to the fun side of their approach, but with a corporate edge. The name also being phonetically catchy was something important to really capture in the design of the identity.

This brief was achieved by using a bold typographic base font for boldness and clarity. To bring balance and harmony, the words were evenly stacked above each other and their kerning fine-tuned to aesthetically bring symmetry. This stacking also enhanced the pronunciation of each word, giving each their own space and platform.

The ampersand was brought in more delicately to soften the boldness of the font and became more of an icon that was used throughout their branding.

THE PIONEERS

HISTORY MAKERS CHURCH CONFERENCE

History Makers is a church based in Florida (USA) that annually hosts a woman’s conference. Each conference requires a full brand creation and collateral to follow. This year the team came up with the name ‘The Pioneers’ and had in mind to incorporate large battle style flags in their opener and throughout the conference stage design.

The client was also very empowering to let me run free with the concept. With the above in mind, I wanted to create a brand that was strong and victorious, yet leaned into the concept of the flag. I achieved this by creating a flag within the branding by combining the 2 ‘E’s’ together. To create an illusion of movement, I created a ripple down the middle. I also created a stacked version to be easily used across all design output dimensions.

PROJECT SCOPE: Brand identity, social media/web/screen package, print + branded merch.
